Vibe coding as the future of developer collaboration

July 29, 2025

Picture this: You’re sitting at your laptop, tossing out ideas for a new app, and your code is coming together in real time, not through hours of typing, but through a conversation with an AI partner. This is vibe coding, and it is quickly becoming one of the most interesting shifts in how developers create software.

The approach has gained attention recently in tech circles. Andrej Karpathy, a well-known figure in machine learning, described his process of working with advanced language models in a conversational, back-and-forth way to develop software more intuitively. Instead of building every line step by step, you explain your goals or give a few examples. The AI then suggests or writes much of the code with you. You are still in control, testing and refining as you go, but the process feels much more creative than traditional coding

Why vibe coding is gaining attention

  • Prototyping becomes faster and more creative. Vibe coding helps you move quickly from idea to working feature. It is a real boost when you want to experiment or get a prototype running.
  • Coding is more accessible to everyone. People who are not traditional programmers can build simple apps or automate tasks. If you know what you want, you can work with the AI to bring your ideas to life.
  • Learn as you go. Watching an AI write code in real time is like having a personal coding tutor. You pick up new methods and shortcuts you might have missed.

Interest in this approach is growing. Reports indicate that an increasing number of teams and startups are experimenting with collaborative coding using AI. Even experienced engineers are now experimenting with this method for both personal and professional projects.

What to watch out for

Generated code is not always perfect. Developers still need to review, test, and resolve any issues that arise. There is a risk of bugs or security problems if you accept everything the AI suggests. The best results come when you treat vibe coding as a true collaboration. Guide the AI and always check the work before moving forward.

How can you try vibe coding at Thoth AI

  1. Start small. Build a simple script or try automating a repetitive task.
  1. Stay hands-on. Test the code thoroughly and make changes as needed.
  1. Share your results. Talk about your prompts, your successes, and any surprises. Everyone learns faster together.
  1. Learn from others. Look at examples from industry leaders like Karpathy and see how they use these tools to shape new projects.

Looking forward

Vibe coding is more than just a shortcut. It is changing the way developers think about building software. The focus shifts from writing every line to setting goals and making creative decisions. This opens the door to new ways of working and gives more people a chance to build useful tools.

There are still open questions. How will beginners learn if much of the code is generated? How will teams handle code reviews and project management with more collaboration between people and AI? These are things we are all figuring out together.

One thing is clear: vibe coding is helping founders, engineers, and creators build smarter and faster. At Thoth AI, we are excited to help our users explore and master this new way of working.

Have you tried vibe coding yet, or are you thinking about giving it a try? Share your thoughts and experiences with us.
